The ribbon is cut at the opening of the Cardiac Catheter Lab at Royal Cornwall Hospital

The newly-refurbished cardiac catheter Laboratory (Cath Lab) 1 at the Royal Cornwall Hospital has been given the red-ribbon treatment at its official opening this week. The cath lab re-opened with its first patient since the project completed back in March, but such is the demand on this specialist cardiovascular service, the official celebration had to wait several weeks.

Finally, on Monday 30 June, cardiac clinicians and capital projects team members were able to gather and reflect on the benefits of the the project which also saw the replacement and installation of new imaging equipment for an improved clinical and patient experience, an upgraded air handling unit and new changing room facilities for staff.

Watch the film to find out more about Cath Lab services and the benefits the newly fitted out laboratory is delivering to patients and staff.
