Excitement and enthusiasm as Willmott Dixon meets programme and design teams

Posted on:

Less than a week after the announcement that Willmott Dixon would be our delivery partner for the construction of our new Women and Children’s Hospital, delivery leaders from Willmott Dixon came to Cornwall in August to meet with the wider programme design team and clinical leads at a “get to know everyone” workshop.

The key players highlighted what they were most looking forward to in working together on our new hospital. Sessions also included how best Willmott Dixon could provide early advice on construction requirements and sequencing, particularly as we move closer to delivering the Outline Business Case.

Who is Willmott Dixon?

Willmott Dixon is part of the New Hospital Programme’s “Hospital 2.0 Alliance” and one of the 10 contractors which has been appointed to deliver all 11 new hospital schemes in “Wave 1”. Every one of these hospitals has been, or is being, designed to the Hospital 2.0 standards and will be built using the same modern methods of construction.

We are really pleased to have Willmott Dixon on board with us. The family-owned company has a great deal of experience in the southwest of England and is currently delivering the new Emergency Care Building, another new hospital scheme, at the University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. They have a ready supply chain of companies who, once the work is complete there, will be able to move onto our scheme.  And Willmott Dixon has an exemplary record in sustainability, skills development and social value delivery.

It was an amazing day with a lot of energy and enthusiasm in the room.

Watch what everyone had to say in this short film!
